At Aro Ha, we believe that ancient traditions often hold the keys to modern wellbeing. In this spirit, we sat down with Celine Wallace, founder of Sattva Soul, to explore Ayurveda - the world's oldest holistic healing system. In a time when many are seeking deeper alignment, Ayurveda offers a timeless pathway back to balance.

Here, Celine shares her insights into how understanding your Dosha, tuning into nature’s rhythms, and adopting small daily practices can transform not just your health - but your relationship with life itself.

A conversation with Celine Wallace

On understanding Ayurveda:

"Ayurveda is the world’s oldest holistic healing system. It’s more than medicine - it’s a way of life that weaves together body, mind, and spirit. Rather than reacting to illness, Ayurveda invites us to live in a way that prevents imbalance. It’s a practice of aligning with nature’s rhythms through daily rituals, nourishing foods, and herbal support. At Sattva Soul, we bring this wisdom into modern life in a way that feels simple, tangible, and deeply transformative."
On why Ayurveda feels more relevant now than ever:

"Modern life often pulls us away from ourselves. The pace, the noise, the constant demands - they leave many people disconnected, stressed, and depleted. Ayurveda offers another way. It teaches us to slow down, to listen to our bodies, and to live with more intention. Through daily rhythms, mindful eating, and rituals that honour both body and mind, Ayurveda supports the return to balance in a world that often glorifies imbalance."

On the importance of understanding your Dosha:

"Your Dosha is your unique mind-body constitution - a map of who you are beneath the noise. When you understand your Dosha, you understand how to work with your nature, not against it. It explains why certain foods energize you, why one form of exercise feels natural while another feels depleting, why you respond to stress the way you do. It’s a pathway to making choices - daily, seasonal, and lifelong - that support your true balance."

On discovering your Dosha - and how it evolves:

"There are beautiful ways to discover your Dosha, whether through a simple quiz or a deeper evaluation with an Ayurvedic practitioner - using wrist pulse, tongue mapping, eye and hair analysis. Your core nature, called Prakriti, remains constant. But your current state of balance, Vikriti, shifts with lifestyle, environment, and emotions. Ayurveda teaches us to adapt - to notice when we are moving out of balance, and to make small, conscious changes to restore harmony."

On living with Dosha awareness:

"Dosha awareness becomes a daily compass.

  • If Vata is dominant, grounding routines, warm foods, and calming practices like yoga can create steadiness.
  • For Pitta, cooling foods, mindful movement, and cultivating spaciousness can soothe intensity.
  • For Kapha, lightness, stimulation, and energizing activity bring vitality.

But it’s more than food or movement. It’s an awareness that colours how we meet each day, each season, and even each emotion - responding not from habit, but from understanding."
A simple ritual to begin today:

"One practice I love is tongue scraping. Each morning, before eating or drinking, gently scrape the tongue with a copper or stainless-steel scraper to remove the residue that accumulates overnight. It’s a small act of cleansing, of beginning the day clear - supporting digestion, vitality, and balance. A simple daily ritual that reconnects us with the rhythms of renewal."

On the natural synergy between Ayurveda and Aro Ha:

"The heart of Ayurveda - balance, presence, connection to nature lives at Aro Ha. Through farm-to-table meals, mindful movement, time in stillness and silence, Aro Ha creates a space where the rhythms of life slow and deepen. Seasonal eating, living simply, moving consciously, reconnecting with the land - these are not just Ayurvedic principles; they are woven into the fabric of the Aro Ha experience. For those who are ready to explore more deeply, our upcoming Aro Ha Ayurvedic Reset Retreat offers an invitation to understand your unique Dosha, to reset, and to carry these living practices into everyday life."
